TENDER FOR SUPPLY AND DELIVERY OF STEEL MODULAR BRIDGES (232M) FOR EMERGENCIES TO KENYA RURAL ROADS AUTHORITY

  1. The Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA), is a State Corporation established under the Kenya Roads Act of 2007, with the responsibility for management, development, rehabilitation and maintenance of rural roads.
  1. The Authority is in receipt of Requests for Clarifications from various bidders on the above tender.
  1. Interested and eligible bidders are therefore requested to note the following clarifications;

1.List of Goods and Delivery Schedule

A request for splitting of the containers into three batches given the logistical challenge of clearance and some parts being left behind at different ports. Further, any delay in clearance may result in huge costs of demurrage at point of entry.

The Employer agrees with this proposal. Therefore, the delivery of the 232m can hereby be divided into 4 lots of 60m, 60m, 60m and 52m to alleviate this problem.

1.Can the abutment be prefabricated for direct placing on prepared ground without any steel columns provided retaining walls are kept at 1.5m above beam seat.

2.What is the exact height of the Abutment Units?

3.What is the material of the Abutment Units?

4.How is the Abutment mounted to the ground?

5.What is the exact quantity of abutment? There is a discrepancy on price schedule and tender document?

Given that the Modular bridge will be used for Emergency purposes it is impossible for the abutment to be prefabricated. To this end the abutment requirement is hereby deleted from the list of Goods and Delivery Schedule.

Can the Technical Specifications have additions in terms of drawings and/ or pictures demonstrating the required items

The Tender Document has provided sufficient details under Section V – Technical Specifications. In addition to this, drawings and pictures are hereby provided as Annex II.

  1. With the above clarifications, interested and eligible bidders should note the following amendments to the Tender Documents.
  1. The Schedule of Requirements under Section V of the Tender Document is hereby revised and annexed herewith as Annex I.
  1. The Technical Specifications under Section V of the Tender Document is hereby revised to include Drawings and pictures annexed as Annex II.
  1. The submission date for the above Tender is hereby revised from revised from 26th May, 2022 to 14th June, 2022 at 11.00am.
  1. Bidders are advised to download the Tender Notice, Addendum No. 1 and Tender Document from the Authority’s website wwkerra.go.ke.
  1. Completed tender documents should be enclosed in plain sealed envelopes, clearly marked with the Tender Name, Tender Number and deposited in the Tender Box located at 3rd Floor Barabara Plaza Block B, Mazao road, Opposite KCAA building or be addressed and posted to the address Indicated below on or before the revised submission date.
  1. Bulky tenders which do not fit in the Tender Box shall be delivered to the Supply Chain Management office located on the Fourth (4th) Floor, West Wing, Barabara Plaza, Block B.
  1. Opening of the bids will take place immediately thereafter on (the revised date) at the Ground Floor Board Room Barabara Plaza Block B, Mazao road, Opposite KCAA building in the presence of the tenderers or their representatives who choose to attend.
  1. Bids not received at the submission venue by the closing date and time will not be accepted for opening and will be rejected and returned unopened.
  1. All pages of the submitted documents are to be Serialized from the First page to the last page.
  1. Bidders are advised to regularly visit the KeRRA website for any information/addendums on the above tende
  1. Bidders may obtain further information from the Supply Chain Management Unit of KeRRA at the address below during working hours from 09:00 to 16:00 Hours local time Monday to Friday.
  1. The Authority will strictly adhere to Government guidelines on management of COVID 19. Bidders who choose to attend the opening of bids are therefore required to only send one (1) representative. This will reduce on congestion and crowding of the opening venue
